Popular Life Insurance PLC has distributed insurance claim cheques worth Tk9.68 crore among customers in the Chattogram region as part of its efforts to expedite claim settlements.
The cheques were handed over at a programme held at the Engineers Institution auditorium in Chattogram yesterday (3 October), according to a press release.
Mohammad Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Rinku, chairman of Popular Life Insurance, attended the event as the chief guest, while BM Yusuf Ali, managing director and CEO of the company and president of the Bangladesh Insurance Forum, chaired the programme.
Speaking at the event, Rinku stressed the need for prompt and proper settlement of insurance claims, saying honesty, hard work and professionalism are essential to winning customer confidence.
“By ensuring customer satisfaction and settling insurance claims quickly and properly, our collective efforts will help establish Popular Life as a pioneer in Bangladesh’s insurance sector,” he said.
Former chairman and entrepreneur director Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, who attended the event as a special guest, said insurance plays an important role in providing financial security against uncertainties in life.
He stressed the need for transparency, accountability and timely claim settlements to maintain customer trust in the insurance sector.
BM Yusuf Ali said insurance provides financial protection against an uncertain future and that Popular Life has been working to ensure transparency, accountability and timely settlement of customer claims.
“The handover of these cheques today is a practical reflection of our responsibility towards our customers,” he said.
Additional managing director BM Shawkat Ali, additional managing director and company secretary Mehtas Helal Kabir, senior deputy managing director Syed Mehtahar Hossain, deputy managing director Md Khalilur Rahman Sikdar, executive director Sazzad Mahmud Kishore, project director Md Mahbubur Rahman and other senior officials also spoke at the programme.
Customers who received the claim cheques expressed satisfaction with the payments.
