One person died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,163 new patients were hospitalised during the same period.
The latest figures have taken the country’s dengue death toll to 250, according to a press release issued today (2 October) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest death was reported in Dhaka division outside the city corporation areas.
Meanwhile, September recorded 148 dengue deaths, the highest monthly death toll so far this year.
Dengue claimed five lives from January to May, followed by 13 deaths in June, 36 in July and 43 in August.
During the last 24 hours, 1,163 dengue patients were also discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 76,862.
With the latest admissions, the cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country this year has reached 82,761.
