‘I filed the case that very night, you just don’t have the information’: Salman tells Salauddin

Content creator Salman Muqtadir has said he filed a case with Cantonment Police Station last night (26 September) over the attack on his BrownFish Studio in the ECB area of the capital, responding to Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed’s claim that he had not filed any case.

In a video posted on Facebook around 3pm today (27 September), Salman said he had remained at the police station with several people until around 4am to file the case.

“Despite having every police station and the administration under your [home minister’s] authority, you do not know that a case was filed that very night. Do you hold the responsibility for BNP’s PR crisis management, or are you the home minister?” he said.

The statement came after the home minister said at a press conference earlier today that Salman had not filed a case over the incident.

“My question is, did the gentleman who is making these allegations on Facebook Live file any case? He did not,” Salahuddin said.

He also referred to Salman’s earlier remarks that no one had demanded extortion money from him and that he would have paid if anyone had asked.

“If no one demanded extortion from him, and he says he would have paid if asked, then this is not about any identified person,” the minister said.

Salahuddin added that Salman had pointed fingers at him and that the authorities could investigate the matter if he filed a specific case.

“He is a victim in this incident. We have seen that,” the minister said.

The home minister also criticised Salman’s comments on Facebook Live, saying they had sparked controversy.

“He says no one demanded extortion from him and that he would have paid if asked. At the same time, he says BNP is an extortionist party. Such sweeping allegations have no meaning. If he files a specific case, it will be investigated,” Salahuddin said.

In his video, Salman said ensuring the security of every citizen, regardless of political affiliation, was among the home minister’s core responsibilities.

He also said he did not want to become a tool of any political party.

“I have spoken against injustice and extortion since the Awami League was in power. I spoke out during the interim government as well, and I will continue to speak out under the current government because it came to power promising security,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the same press conference, the home minister warned that negligence by police in maintaining law and order and carrying out their duties in the capital, including the ECB area, would not be tolerated.
