Three bodies recovered from separate locations in Bhatara, Badda

Police recovered three bodies from separate locations in the capital’s Vatara and Badda areas between last night (23 September) and this afternoon (24 September).

Two of the deceased were found hngiang, while another man’s body was recovered floating in a pond.

At around 2pm today, Bhatara police recovered the body of an unidentified man, aged around 48, from a pond behind Khanam Restaurant in the Dhalibari area.

Confirming the matter, Bhatara Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Selim Shah told The Business Standard that locals spotted the body floating in the pond and alerted the emergency service number 999.

Police later recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

SI Selim Shah further said the man was believed to have died around two days earlier and that the body had decomposed after remaining in the water. 

As a result, it was not immediately possible to determine whether there were any injury marks, he said.

The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report, he added. CID officials also collected the deceased’s fingerprints to establish his identity.

Earlier, around 11pm yesterday, Bhatara police recovered the body of a 20-year-old man, Mahfuzur Rahman Imon, from a house in the Dhalibari Kachabazar area.

Imon was the son of Md Mizanur Rahman of Ahmedpur village under Senbagh police station in Noakhali.

Bhatara Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Hasanuzzaman said Imon’s father had gone outside the room to speak on the phone when he was found with a gamcha wrapped around his neck and tied to a roof beam.

The body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy.

The police officer said the initial suspicion was that Imon had died by suicide. His family told police that he had been suffering from depression, he added.

However, the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report.

Meanwhile, Badda police recovered the hanging body of a 31-year-old man, Md Sagar, from a house in the GM Bari Khalpar area of Satarakul early hours of today.

Sagar was the son of Harunur Rashid of Alaiyarpur in Begumganj, Noakhali, and lived with his family in the Badda house.

Badda Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Ibrahim Khan told TBS that family members said Sagar had been unemployed, depressed and addicted to drugs for a long time.

His wife found him hanging from a window early in the morning, following which police were informed and recovered the body.

The body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report, the police officer said.
