‘Disingenuously twisted’ Earl Spencer just found himself in the cross hairs of King Charles’ former butler Paul Burell and Piers Morgan, during one of their conversations.
It all happened during the butler’s appearance on the host’s YouTube Channel, Piers Morgan Uncensored and featured some candid clap backs. For those unversed, much of what was discussed was Burell recounting the King’s reaction to Diana’s passing—given that he was in Paris when it happened.
His appearance also included a response to the allegations made against the King. Allegations that stated he was ‘giddy’ and said ‘rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough’.
When Mr Morgan started speaking he said, “it didn’t ring true with me” either and he added, “I just thought, ‘what man what human being in the hours after Diana was killed in that car crash when you’re the father of her two boys would say that to her brother?’ None of it makes any sense.”
He also added, “it made more sense to me when I saw his account of my phone call with him that week, which was completely disingenuously twisted to make me look bad and as I just recounted in the monologue, if you actually go back and read my own diary entry.”
“And look, my book was a massive bestselling book. It was number one for many weeks on the Sunday Times list. It sold hundreds of thousands of copies. It was serialized like his in the Daily Mail. You couldn’t have missed it. No one in the next 21 years since it was published has ever questioned the veracity of the entries about him, right? Least of all him.”
He also said, “and I just think that he has deliberately targeted people to settle scores in a way that it’s impossible, in a way, to disprove it. The big mistake he made with me was to genuinely get a material fact so badly wrong that he has no choice but to apologize. But in terms of recollections of phone calls, it’s Charles’s word against his.”
Before concluding he noted, “it’s my word against his and he’s flying in the in the belief that he can probably just, you know, rough this out.”
