Bodies of three members of a family, including an 18-month-old child, were recovered from inside their home at Barahi Jannakandi village in Manikganj Sadar upazila yesterday noon (19 September).
The deceased were Ekram Molla,40, his wife Priyanka, and their daughter Alija. Ekram was the son of Nur Haq of Barahi Jannakandi village under Krishnapur union.
According to initial police reports, Ekram’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf, while the bodies of his wife and daughter were lying inside the room with injury marks.
Moharam Ali, additional superintendent of police, said police suspect that Ekram killed his wife and daughter by striking them on the head before hanging himself.
“The matter is still under investigation, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed upon receiving the autopsy report,” Moharam added.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Manikganj Medical College Hospital for autopsies. Preparation is underway to file a case in this connection.
