Another passenger bus caught fire in Dhaka’s Mirpur this evening (19 September), less than 15 minutes after a separate bus fire was reported nearby.
The latest incident occurred at around 7:30pm at Mirpur-1 intersection, where the rear of an Abhijat Paribahan bus caught fire, according to police.
Mirpur zone Assistant Commissioner of Police Abul Bashar Mollah of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said several seats inside the bus were damaged before people nearby managed to extinguish the flames.
“Several seats of the bus were burnt. However, people nearby immediately doused the fire,” he told The Business Standard.
Police are investigating who started the fire, the officer said.
No casualties were reported.
Earlier, at around 7:15pm, a passenger bus of Shikhor Paribahan caught fire opposite Zam Zam Tower in Mirpur-11.
Police are also investigating that incident.
