Two muggers robbed a rickshaw passenger at knifepoint in broad daylight this morning (19 September) on Satish Babu Lane, directly behind Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram city.
Footage captured from an adjacent building quickly went viral on social media, showing the assailants stripping the victim of all personal belongings around 7am.
The video footage shows two men intercepting the rickshaw and snatching money and belongings from the passenger. Knives were also visible in their hands during the mugging.
After looting the victim, they quickly fled the scene.
Although several bystanders shouted “catch them, catch them” as the muggers made their escape, residents were unable to detain them.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Zayed Mohammad Nazmun Noor told The Business Standard, “The video of the incident has come to our attention. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved by reviewing the video footage.”
“Moreover, to prevent such incidents in these locations in the future,” he added.

According to residents, muggers frequently roam various stretches of the road in the early hours, spanning from the Maa Building area of Kotwali to the Girja School line via Satish Babu Lane.
A local resident said, “I have been commuting on this road in the morning for nearly eight years. I have never seen anything like this before.”
“However, these incidents have been happening over the past year. Now, I constantly worry about my own safety,” he added.
