German delegation to visit Dhaka for 3 days to expand economic ties, deepen bilateral ties

A six-member delegation from the German Parliamentary Group for South Asia is set to visit Dhaka on a three day official tour from 17 to 19 September 2026.

According to a press release issued yesterday (16 September), the visit aims to gain first-hand insights into recent developments in Bangladesh and further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

During their stay, the delegation will hold a series of high-level meetings with representatives of the Bangladesh government, Speaker of Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, and members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Led by Nicklas Kappe, a member of the German Bundestag, the delegation includes parliamentarians representing four different political parties in Germany.

The German parliamentarians are also scheduled to visit the Meghna Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ) in Gazaria, Munshiganj, where they will meet representatives of German enterprises including CHT, Siegwerk and Heidelberg Materials, inspect their operations and assess their contributions to Bangladesh’s industrial and economic growth.

In addition, the delegation will meet opposition politicians, civil society representatives, German institutions operating in Bangladesh and private-sector business leaders to exchange views on the country’s evolving political, economic and social landscape.

The visit is anticipated to further deepen the longstanding partnership between Germany and Bangladesh while opening new avenues for mutual cooperation.
