Housekeeping professionals in Bangladesh are seeking greater recognition for their role in maintaining hotel service standards as the country’s hospitality industry continues to expand.
The Bangladesh Housekeepers Association (BHA) highlighted the contribution of housekeeping workers while celebrating International Housekeeping Week 2026 at Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport, bringing together hotel executives, housekeeping professionals and representatives from across the hospitality industry.

The week-long observance featured competitions aimed at showcasing the technical skills, creativity and professionalism of workers in the sector, according to a press release issued today (17 September).
Among the highlights were bed-making and towel-art competitions, where participants demonstrated their practical skills and attention to detail.
The BHA also organised online competitions to involve professionals from different parts of the country, including the “Super-10 Housekeeping Supervisors and Attendants” and “Super-3 Laundry Professionals” contests.
Winners and outstanding performers received crests and certificates in recognition of their professional skills and contributions to the hospitality industry.
Mohammad Al Amin, BHA chief adviser and general manager of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel, led the opening session.
Golam Habib, BHA adviser, chief people and corporate affairs officer of Pandughar Group and vice-president of the Bangladesh Handball Federation, and Ashwini Nair, area general manager of IHG South West Asia and cluster general manager of Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and InterContinental Dhaka Airport, attended as special guests.
Senior hospitality professionals, including BHA advisers Khurshed Alam and Khairul Bashar, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan General Manager Karthik VK, Platinum Hotel General Manager Alamgir Hossain, Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara General Manager T Kevin McIntyre and Hotel Sarina General Manager Patrick Beck, also attended.
BHA President Md Parvez Mia led the initiative, supported by the association’s Secretary Khan Ali Azam and Senior Vice-President Alamgir Hossain.
The association said the celebration aimed to promote professional recognition, skills development, and collaboration among housekeeping workers.
