Oman firm to procure EV bikes from Bangladesh for food delivery fleet

Oman-based Star Drones (Modern Star Businesses LLC) plans to procure EV bikes from Bangladesh for the delivery fleet of Oman’s food delivery app Bees as an initial step. 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect has been signed with Bangladesh’s Piton Industries Limited, according to a press release issued yesterday.

The companies later plan to establish a full-fledged assembly line in Oman to meet growing demand across the Middle East.

The partnership was announced at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 at Novo Theatre in Dhaka in the presence of Science and Technology Ministry Secretary Md Anwar Hossain. The Omani delegation expressed satisfaction with the quality of Bangladeshi products and the innovations showcased at the fair.

Under the MoU, the two sides will exchange EV technology and enhance their technical capabilities through reverse engineering. Star Drones also plans to integrate Bangladesh’s EV bikes with its drone delivery technology to develop a modern delivery network.

The agreement also provides for Omani capital and drone technology to be brought to Bangladesh for large-scale local investment.

Sheikh Iqbal Zahedi, managing director of Piton Industries, and Said Abdul Gafur Saif Uddin, founder and CEO of Modern Star Businesses LLC, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

Welcoming the initiative, Secretary Anwar said the agreement was a practical outcome of the innovation fair’s effort to connect academia, investors and entrepreneurs.

A Star Drones representative said the company is impressed by the quality of Bangladeshi products and local innovation, describing the deal as a long-term plan to expand Bangladeshi technology across the Middle East and promote Omani investment in Bangladesh.

Fathia bint Ahmed Al Balushi, deputy head of mission and minister plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Oman in Bangladesh, attended the event as a special guest.
