State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku MP urged citizens to keep their surroundings clean, saying public awareness and cleanliness are key to preventing dengue transmission.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after attending a rally organised by the Tangail district administration to mark the “Nationwide Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026” on Saturday (12 September), according to a press release.
Describing the next three months as crucial for dengue control, the state minister urged citizens to take preventive measures at home and in their neighbourhoods.
“Aedes mosquitoes breed in stagnant water accumulated in and around households, leading to the spread of dengue. Therefore, everyone must remain vigilant to prevent waterlogging,” he said.
Tuku emphasised civic responsibility and the need for collective efforts to address public health challenges.
“The Prime Minister envisions building this country through collective effort. Everyone must perform their duties. Preventive measures can protect us not only from dengue but also from various other diseases,” he said.
The state minister said individual awareness alone was insufficient and urged people to encourage their neighbours to maintain cleanliness.
He stressed that active public participation, alongside government initiatives, was essential to effectively controlling dengue outbreaks.
Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haq; Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar; former Member Secretary of District BNP Mahmudul Haq Sanu; and Sadar Upazila BNP President Azgar Ali were among those present at the event.
District administration officials and local leaders were also present.
