The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the Thakurgaon-1 by-election, with voting set for 29 October, the deadline for submitting nomination papers on 27 September, and scrutiny scheduled for 29 September.

According to the schedule, appeals against decisions made during scrutiny of nomination papers can be filed from 30 September to 4 October and will be settled on 6 October.
The deadline for withdrawing candidacies is 7 October.
The seat was declared vacant by the Parliament Secretariat on 22 August following the assumption of presidential duties by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The secretariat said the seat became vacant from 21 August, the day he assumed the responsibilities of the president, in accordance with Article 50(4) of the Constitution.
