A fire broke out at a shopping mall named Center Point in the capital’s airport area today (9 September). The fire was brought under control after around an hour of efforts by six Fire Service units.
The Fire Service received the report of the fire at a restaurant in the shopping mall at around 12:45pm today. Six units from the Uttara and Airport stations then went to the scene and began efforts to control the fire.
Mohammad Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector at the Fire Service headquarters, confirmed the incident.
He said the fire broke out at a restaurant named Chef’s Table on the fifth floor of the six-storey building.
The first Fire Service unit reached the scene at 1:05pm after receiving the report. The fire was brought under control at around 1:40pm after nearly an hour of efforts by six units.
