Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 has arrested Md Ripon Sheikh, 30, an active member of the juvenile gang and snatching group known as the “Laden Group” in the capital’s Mohammadpur.
RAB-2 Deputy Director (Media) Major M Mubin Rahman Tapas said Ripon was arrested from the Rayer Bazar area of Mohammadpur yesterday (5 September).
He said a RAB-2 team arrested Ripon based on a tip-off. The detainee had allegedly been involved in snatching, theft, drug-related and other criminal activities in Mohammadpur for a long time.
The RAB official said Ripon is an active member of the “Laden Group”, a juvenile gang and snatching group operating in Mohammadpur.
According to RAB, eight cases have been filed against Ripon with Mohammadpur, Hazaribagh and New Market police stations under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. The cases include three for robbery, two for preparation to commit robbery, one drug-related case, and two for theft and causing injury through poisoning.
Further legal proceedings against Ripon are underway, Major Mubin said.
