An Indonesian delegation, led by Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Listyowati, held a meeting with Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Yunus Centre today (3 September), seeking his advice and guidance on microcredit and social business.
The delegation, comprising senior government officials and professors from Indonesia, engaged Professor Yunus in an extensive discussion on microcredit programmes, financial inclusion, youth entrepreneurship, agriculture and social business.
They sought to learn from his experience and explore how these approaches could be adapted to address social and economic challenges in Indonesia.
During the meeting, the delegation also invited Prof Yunus to visit Indonesia and share his experience and insights with Indonesian government institutions and communities.

The delegation also included Dr Ade Candradijaya, Head of the Bureau for Agricultural Cooperation; Hariwan Puja Wilapa, Head of the Bilateral Cooperation Working Group; Prof Dr Ir Iskandar Z Siregar, Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Cooperation and Alumni at IPB University; Robbi Firly Harkha, third secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka; and Achmad Chanifudin, Economic Affairs Staff at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka.
Prof Yunus welcomed the exchange and emphasised the importance of learning through direct experience, field visits and international collaboration in advancing microcredit and social business, said a media release.
He advised the delegation to place the younger generation at the centre of any social business or microcredit initiative, noting that young people should be encouraged to contribute to society and channel their energy towards creating positive change.
Executive Director of the Yunus Centre Lamiya Morshed and Managing Director of Grameen Trust Tasmina Rahman were also present at the meeting.
