A Dhaka court today (1 September) deferred the charge framing hearing against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others to 24 September in a case over the murder of truck driver Md Hossain in the capital’s Mohammadpur area during the July Uprising.
Judge Robiul Alam of Special Judge Court-4 in Dhaka set the new date following a hearing, confirmed State counsel Md Anisur Rahman Anis.
Anis said ten accused in the case are currently in prison.
“Former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak could not be produced before the court as he was taken to the International Crimes Tribunal. As a result, the judge deferred the charge framing hearing to 24 September,” he said.

According to the case documents, truck driver Md Hossain was shot dead in the Chand Udyan area of Mohammadpur on 19 July 2024 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
He was returning home after parking his truck at Gabtoli when he was hit by bullets and died on the spot, it added.
Following the incident, the victim’s mother, Rina Begum, filed a murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station on 31 August 2024.
On 23 November 2025, Sub-Inspector Akramuzzaman of Mohammadpur Police Station, the investigating officer, submitted a charge sheet against 34 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina.
