A pedestrian was killed after a bus ran him over in Jatrabari’s Kutubkhali area this morning (30 August), with the police later detaining the driver and seizing the vehicle.
Driver Md Saiful, 26, was detained after he tried to flee with the bus following the crash.
Md Akhtar Hossain, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division, said traffic police blocked the road and chased the bus after it had hit the pedestrian.
They detained Saiful and seized the bus in Shonir Akhra, he added.

Police could not immediately identify the deceased. They sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
