Meghan Markle’s supporters have complained that the Duchess of Sussex has been unfairly criticized by the media in connection with the death of Dolly Parton.
A large number of her fans called out British tabloid media for publishing stories about her social media post promoting her brand following the American legend’s death.
The stories were framed as though the wife of Prince Harry had hurt Parton’s fans by sharing a social media post regarding her lifestyle brand As Ever.
Meghan Markle had announced her new Spiced Apple Butter roughly four hours after news broke that Dolly had died at 80. As tributes poured in for the country legend, Meghan’s critics questioned why the product announcement wasn’t postponed.
One social media user wrote, “I feel sorry for her.. Or, at least a little sympathetic. She’s been trashed by the press for a decade-plus. I don’t care if she’s a good or bad actress, if she fits in with the Royal Family or not.”
One fan said, “It’s not really bizarre when you remember how racist the royal family is.”
“Let’s not be obtuse, we all know her biggest crime is being not white,” said another.
