Alec Baldwin is reportedly furious with Tom Cruise over his behaviour with him during the most difficult phase in his life.
For those unaware, Tom does not have any beef with Alec; however, he has maintained his distance after the shooting incident on the set of Rust. Alec, who played the role of Harland Rust in the Western film, fired a live round from a prop gun, which resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, while director Joel Souza was injured. The tragic incident occurred in New Mexico on October 21, 2021.
The 68-year-old American actor and film producer was taken to court for involuntary manslaughter, but a judge ruled prosecutors had not properly turned over evidence to the defence, dismissing the charges in July 2024.
An insider told Radar Online, “Right when Alec needed Tom the most – during the whole Rust nightmare, when he was counting on as much support as possible from his Hollywood peers – Tom totally ghosted him.”
“He wasn’t the only one. Alec felt very abandoned, but the situation with Tom was incredibly painful because he really believed he was a good friend. Right when he was at his lowest, he suddenly couldn’t get him on the phone,” the source explained.
It is pertinent to mention that Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin have worked together in three films, including 2012’s musical comedy Rock of Ages, 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
