Actor Fazlur Rahman Babu’s house in West Alipur of Faridpur municipality was burgled, with thieves allegedly stealing the main electricity line, air conditioner cables and other items kept outside the residence.
The actor filed a general diary (GD) with Faridpur Kotwali Police Station today (25 August) afternoon over the incident.
Fazlur Rahman Babu said he discovered the theft after visiting the house, named ‘Kamranga’, last night (24 August) and later informed police.
The actor lives in Dhaka with his family but visits his Faridpur home occasionally.
“I came to the house last night and noticed that the lights were not working. When I went outside, I found that the main electricity line was missing. I later went to the roof and saw that the air conditioner cables were also gone. Several other items kept outside the house were missing as well,” he said.
He added he had last visited the house around 20 to 25 days earlier and stayed for two days before returning to Dhaka.
The actor blamed local drug users for the recent increase in thefts in the area, saying similar incidents had occurred at other houses.
“This did not happen here before. We used to feel safe. But recently, the activities of these thieves have increased, which is unfortunate,” he said.
Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mahamudul Hasan said the actor had personally come to the police station and filed a GD over the theft of the electricity cables.
“Police have started working to identify those involved in the theft and bring them to justice,” he said.
