Located in the lowlands of south-central Nepal, Chitwan National Park is one of the country’s most renowned wildlife sanctuaries.
Established in 1973, the park covers an area of approximately 932 square kilometres.
Chitwan is home to the greater one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, leopard, sloth bear, various species of deer, and elephants.
Its rivers and wetlands are inhabited by the rare gharial and crocodiles.
One of Chitwan’s greatest attractions is its remarkable diversity of birdlife, with more than 600 species of birds recorded, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
With jungle safaris, river crossings, wildlife observation, and birdwatching,
Chitwan is one of Nepal’s most fascinating destinations for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.
