Earth, Wind & Fire recently shared an update on band member John Paris’ health after cancelling a show.
For those unaware, the renowned American band abruptly cancelled a show earlier this month, as the band’s drummer, Paris, suffered a medical emergency and became unconscious.
On Thursday, August 20, a representative of Earth, Wind & Fire, Verdin White, told PEOPLE magazine that Paris has regained consciousness, as he was in a medically induced coma.
White said, “Since our last few updates, there have been both encouraging moments and new challenges. As we’ve said from the beginning, recovery isn’t a straight line, and John’s journey continues to remind us of that every day.”
“Many of you may remember that earlier in John’s journey, he briefly awakened before needing to be sedated again. Since then, we’ve experienced another significant milestone—John woke up again. This time, there was encouraging progress,” he shared.
Doctors are monitoring Paris’ progress “closely” and he is showing great signs, as his breathing is getting stronger while his blood pressure has remained stable.
It is pertinent to mention that John Paris still needs two major surgeries for his recovery.
