The government has extended the contractual appointments of Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md Ehsanul Haque for another year.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications today (17 August) extending their terms.
According to the notifications, Nasimul has been reappointed as cabinet secretary for one year from tomorrow (18 August) under Section 49 of the Public Service Act, 2018. Ehsanul has been reappointed as senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration for the same period.
The appointments were made in continuation of their previous contracts.
Nasimul, a BCS 1982 batch officer, was appointed senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs on contract in December 2024 during the interim government.
He was later appointed cabinet secretary in February this year, ahead of the BNP government taking office, moving from the home ministry to the highest-ranking civil service post in the administration.
Ehsanul was appointed senior secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division on contract in August 2024 during the interim government.
He was transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration as senior secretary in October 2025. The ministry oversees key administrative matters, including transfers, postings and promotions of government officials.
The previous two-year contractual appointments of both officials expired yesterday (16 August). The government decided to reappoint them to the same posts before the expiry of their terms.
Under the new notifications, both will serve for another year from tomorrow.
