Two bomb-like objects were recovered from a house in Demra’s Sarulia area of Dhaka today (16 August), and a man was detained in connection with the discovery.
One of the devices was defused while the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) bomb disposal unit was working to neutralise the other, a CTTC official told The Business Standard around 8:30pm.
The devices were recovered from a house near the intersection of Gariber Newaz Mosque Road in West Boxnagar, under Demra Police Station jurisdiction.
The CTTC team went to the spot after police found the suspected bombs while investigating the recent attack on police at the Janapad intersection in Jatrabari.
The detained man was identified as Jewel, according to the official.

Police were conducting an operation to arrest suspects allegedly linked to the Jatrabari attack when they discovered the devices, the official said.
The bomb disposal unit was subsequently deployed to examine and neutralise the devices.
Police and CTTC officials were continuing their operation at the scene, while investigators were looking into whether the recovered devices were connected to the Jatrabari attack.
