His lawyer says there is now no legal impediment to his release, as he has secured bail in all nine cases filed against him.

The High Court today granted interim bail to former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque in a case filed over an alleged attempt to murder during the July uprising, giving him bail in all nine cases filed against him.
A bench of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher also issued a rule asking why Khairul Haque should not be granted regular bail in the case.
Senior lawyer Mansurul Haque Chowdhury, Advocate Motahar Hossain Saju and lawyer Moneayem Nabi Shaheen represented Khairul Haque at the hearing.
Speaking to reporters, his lawyer Shaheen said, “There are nine cases against him [Khairul] in total, and he is on bail in eight of them. As he has now secured bail in the Banani case, there is no legal impediment to his release.”
The lawyer also said the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court had earlier rejected Khairul Haque’s bail petition in the case. His lawyers subsequently moved the High Court against that order.
On 2 July, the Chamber Court upheld Khairul’s bail in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station over the death of Khoaib during the July Uprising. He was subsequently shown arrested in the Banani case.
On 24 July 2025, Khairul Haque was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence in Dhaka. He was subsequently shown arrested in a case filed over the killing of Jubo Dal activist Abdul Quayyum Ahad in Jatrabari during the 2024 July Uprising.
