English and mathematics have emerged as the weaker-performing subjects in this year’s SSC and equivalent examination results, with several boards recording pass rates below 80%, while ICT has posted near-perfect results across almost all boards.
Among the general education boards, English pass rates ranged from 66.64% in Mymensingh to 81.29% in Cumilla, according to the results published today (10 August).
Mathematics recorded its lowest pass rate in Mymensingh at 69.61%, while the highest was 83.34% in Jashore.
Maths pass rates were also below 80% in Rajshahi, Barishal, Sylhet and Dinajpur.
The overall lowest subject-wise pass rate was recorded in accounting under the Technical Education Board, at 20.34%.
ICT, meanwhile, had the highest pass rates, ranging from 98.66% in Dhaka to 99.99% in Chattogram among the general boards.
It stood at 99.98% under the technical board and 98.70% under the madrasah board.
Bangla pass rates in the general boards ranged from 90.50% in Barishal to 98.38% in Cumilla.
Physics ranged from 89.18% in Mymensingh to 97.08% in Cumilla, while chemistry ranged from 86.36% to 94.04%.
Civics, accounting, higher mathematics, history and economics also showed considerable variation across boards.
