The police recovered the semi-composed and dismembered body of an unidentified woman from beneath a culvert in the Rajarbagh Baganbari area of the capital’s Sabujbagh today (6 August).
According to police, the victim’s head and both hands were recovered from the scene, while the rest of the body remains missing.
Police suspect the woman was murdered and dismembered two to three days ago.
Confirming the matter, Sabujbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said, “We recovered the body at 9am today upon receiving information. Based on the dismembered remains, it is clearly the body of a woman. We believe the murder took place two to three days ago.”
He added that the woman’s identity remains unknown.
He said, “We have requested a forensic and expert team to assist with the investigation, and police will try to identify the victim through fingerprint scanning. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are underway.”
