A three-member judicial panel from the International Crimes Tribunal-1 along with a prosecution team visited the Task Force for Interrogation (TFI) cell, widely known as “Aynaghor”, located in Uttara, Dhaka.
The delegation, which arrived at the secret detention facility around 11am this morning (1 August), included ICT-1 Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder and members Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md Mohitul Haq Enam Chowdhury.
The team was joined by ICT Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam and Prosecutors Mizanul Islam, Gazi Monawar Hossain Tamim, Faruk Ahamed, Shyikh Mahdi, Shahidul Islam Sardar, alongside the defense lawyers.
The visit follows a tribunal decision issued on 21 July in response to a petition filed by the prosecution.
On that day, the ICT chief prosecutor submitted an application seeking permission to inspect the secret detention centre run by the Rapid Action Battalion, Directorate General of Forces Intelligence, and the Detective Branch of police, while presenting details of enforced disappearances and torture inflicted on political dissidents and activists at these facilities during the tenure of the fallen Awami League government.
