The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has launched a one-stop citizen service mobile and web application, “Amader Chattogram”, aimed at delivering technology-driven public services and improving accountability through greater citizen engagement.
Mayor Shahadat Hossain inaugurated the platform at a ceremony held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Chattogram Centre today (18 July).
The application has been financed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Eastern Bank PLC, while Vento Tech developed the platform. The City authority said no funds from its own budget were used to build the digital service.
Through the app, residents can report civic problems – including damaged roads, waterlogging, mosquito infestations, waste accumulation, faulty streetlights and clogged drains – across 10 service categories by uploading photos with location details directly to the city corporation.
Users will also be able to track the status of their complaints in real time, from submission to resolution.
The platform also provides access to emergency services, direct communication with the mayor, holding tax and trade licence services, and other civic facilities. An integrated officer dashboard, ward-based heat maps and an automated ticketing system will help city authorities identify service gaps and improve administrative efficiency.
Speaking at the launch, Mayor Shahadat said no city could be transformed by a single institution alone, stressing the need for active citizen participation.
“We want to build a city corporation where citizens do not have to visit offices to receive services. Instead, technology will bring services to their doorstep. That is our commitment to building a Smart Chattogram,” he said.
Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Mohammad Ashraful Amin said the platform would also allow citizens to submit development proposals and opinions on infrastructure, parks, playgrounds, footbridges, hospitals and educational institutions. A polling feature has also been incorporated to collect public feedback on key civic issues.
He added that information on city officials, hospitals and other public services would be integrated into the app in phases. The corporation also plans to introduce AI-powered cameras capable of automatically detecting unattended waste, waterlogging and other civic problems and generating complaints within the city’s management system.
Senior officials from Chattogram Wasa, Chattogram Metropolitan Police, the Chattogram Range Police, political leaders and representatives from government agencies and civil society attended the launch.
