The government aims to turn Bangladesh into a global education hub by developing the country’s universities into centres of excellence, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said.
“There was a time when students from different countries came to study at our universities. Now, many of our own students go abroad for higher education. We want our universities to become centres of excellence,” he said while inaugurating academic activities at Naogaon University today (18 July).
The minister said Bangladeshi students continue to prove their talent abroad and earn recognition internationally.
“We want to turn our population into skilled human resources to accelerate the country’s development,” he said.
Referring to Naogaon University’s academic expansion, Milon said the university could introduce food technology and other region-specific disciplines in the future, taking into account the local economy and the area’s agriculture-based needs.
