Matt Damon has opened up about a hilarious behind-the-scenes moment from The Odyssey.
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Damon recalled filming a key scene opposite to Holland, who plays his on-screen son Telemachus in the Christopher Nolan’s adaption of Homer’s epic poem.
Damon shared of his scene with Holland, saying, “So, well, I don’t want to give too much away, but there’s a moment where we see each other, and I’m on a boat, and he’s on the shore.”
“And I saw him, and I was kind of on this boat all day, separated from the crew. [Holland] was putting his hand on his heart and so, I started to do it too. And at the end of the day, we reconnected, and I was like, ‘Chris told you to do that, put your hand on your heart?’ And he goes, ‘My costume was choking me,’” the Oscar winner recalled, adding that he’s “nearsighted” therefore it appeared so the Spider-Man actor was “saluting” him.
Despite the mix-up, Matt Damon described filming The Odyssey as an unforgettable experience, comparing the production to “more like an expedition than a movie.”
The cast, including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Charlize Theron traveled across Greece, Morocco, Iceland, Scotland and Italy before finishing in a massive water tank at Universal Studios.
