The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) today (16 July) directed three food manufacturing companies to withdraw their products from the market after finding excessive use of preservatives harmful to human health.
BFSA Public Relations Officer Abul Hasnat confirmed the matter.
In a press release, the BFSA identified the products as “East Cake Pur Pitha Jam Filled (Intact)” manufactured by East Cake International Food Ltd; “East Baker Slice Bread Milk Jam Filled (Intact)” manufactured by East Zibai International Ltd; and “Arboting Food Slice Bread Mix Jam Filled (Intact)” manufactured by Arboting Food Co Ltd.
The authority instructed all three companies to immediately withdraw their respective products from the market and halt their marketing.
The BFSA also advised the general public to refrain from purchasing or consuming the mentioned food items.
