The body of a 35-year-old woman from the Borodeshi Hajinagar area of Aminbazar in Savar was found, and police suspect she was raped before being strangled to death.
The deceased, identified as Sharmin Akter Liza, was found last night (2 July) at the house of Md Yusuf.
She was the daughter of Shawkat Hossain of Aganagar in Keraniganj.
Md Zakir Hossain, in-charge of the Aminbazar Police Outpost under the Savar Model Police Station, said preliminary findings show the woman was raped before being strangled.
He said the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy, and the cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.
The victim’s father has filed a case with Savar Model Police Station in connection with the incident, police said.
