National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser (South) has accused BNP activists of attacking its election campaign and said the incidents signal attempts to capture polling centres in the upcoming national election.
After a meeting with the chief election commissioner in the capital’s Agargaon today, (26 January), he said attacks based on party identity during election campaigns send a “message of repression”.
Referring to an attack on NCP’s Dhaka-18 candidate Ariful Islam Adib, Hasnat said the incident sent a negative signal for the overall election process and was aimed at intimidating voters and rival candidates.
Party leaders said the NCP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission over the attack and called for taking measures for the smooth campaigning of the candidates.
