Police have detained a young man from the Dhanmondi 32 area of the capital on suspicion of loitering in a restricted zone and filming police officers on duty.
The detainee was identified as Sakhawat Hossain. He was taken into custody around 12:30pm today (23 June) and transported to Dhanmondi Model Police Station in a police van.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Dhanmondi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said Sakhawat had entered a cordoned-off area around Dhanmondi 32 and was recording police activities.
“He was filming police officers after entering the restricted area. Although he was asked to stop, he did not comply. As a result, he was detained as a suspect and brought to the police station,” the OC said.
Police are currently questioning him to determine further details about the incident, he added.
