Singapore-based aviation services company (SATS) has expressed interest in providing ground handling services at the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), reflecting growing international interest in Bangladesh’s aviation sector.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between SATS representatives and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam at the Bangladesh Secretariat today (22 June), according to a press release.
SATS representatives Chi Cheng Bock and Tham Yin Fun outlined opportunities for cooperation in Bangladesh’s aviation industry, with a particular focus on ground handling operations at the country’s main international airport.
The company conveyed its interest in participating in services at the upcoming third terminal, which is expected to significantly expand HSIA’s capacity and improve operational efficiency once fully operational.
Welcoming the proposal, the minister invited SATS to submit its plans through the prescribed process. She assured the delegation that the proposal would be evaluated in accordance with government policies and procedures.
Authorities in Bangladesh are currently exploring options to bring international expertise and investment to enhance airport services as preparations continue for the third terminal’s full operation.
SATS is one of Asia’s leading providers of airport gateway services, cargo handling and aviation solutions, with operations across several major international airports.
