A scrap dealer was hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Louhajang Upazila of Munshiganj district, police said.
The victim, Sohel Munshi, 39, was found dead in the courtyard of his home in Kalurgaon village under Gaodia union in the early hours today (18 June).
According to police, Sohel went to sleep after having dinner last night (17 June). During the night, his wife and mother noticed flames in the courtyard and rushed outside.
They discovered Sohel’s blood-soaked body lying on the ground, while his motorcycle was burning nearby. Local residents informed the police, who arrived at the scene at dawn and recovered the body.
Additional Superintendent of Police Srinagar–Sirajdikhan Circle Anisur Rahman said, “The attackers lured Sohel out of his house before killing him with sharp weapons.”
“The motive behind the murder is not yet clear,” he said. Anisur Rahman further said, “Police have launched an investigation, and legal proceedings are underway. The victim’s body has been sent for autopsy.”
