The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh Police has arrested three people for allegedly defrauding job seekers by promising work in Jordan using forged documents and operating as part of an unlicensed recruitment network.
The arrestees were identified as Manjur Pradhania 35, Md Osman Goni 25 and Kazi Md Ata-e-Rabbi 28. CID Special Superintendent of Police (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan confirmed the matter today (15 June).
According to CID, its Human Trafficking Monitoring Cell raided “Surah Travels and Traders” in Dhaka’s Uttar Badda yesterday and recovered 55 passports, contract documents, computer equipment and a DVR.
Investigators found the agency falsely used the name and seal of a Jordan-based garment company to lure workers, collecting Tk2-2.5 lakh per person.
CID said the agency had no legal recruiting licence but advertised jobs in multiple countries via social media. A case has been filed under the Human Trafficking Prevention Act, and further arrests are underway.
