The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) today (9 June) approved the Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute Expansion Project-2 with an estimated cost of Tk344 crore.
Aimed at further strengthening child healthcare services, the project will be implemented from July 2026 to June 2028, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain said in a Facebook post.
Ecnec today approved 10 development projects involving an estimated Tk3,890.97 crore, including five new projects, three revised projects and two receiving time extensions.
The approved projects include the second-phase expansion of Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute, the second phase of a cancer centre at Dhaka CMH, and several infrastructure and education initiatives.
Ecnec deferred approval of the third revised version of the Khulna Shipyard Road project pending a review of implementation delays, while the proposed Chinese Economic Zone project was not discussed due to time constraints.
