A self-serving political party that deceived Islami Andolan Bangladesh and dreamt of coming to power will fail to realise that ambition, Islami Andolan’s Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as Chormonai Pir, said today (23 January).
“An interest-driven party had dreamed of coming to power by deceiving us. That dream will not be fulfilled. If they come to power, they will neither implement Sharia law nor run the country in accordance with Sharia,” he said while addressing a rally at the Balur Math area in Kanchpur, Sonargaon.
He further said that while neighbouring countries are expected to maintain friendly relations, Bangladesh “historically did not get” friendly relations with India.
Alleging that a party holds regular secret meetings with India, Rezaul Karim said that the party could betray even its tested allies and would deceive the people if it came to power.
“We do not want to become a ladder for such deceivers to reach power. Realising this, we have withdrawn from the 11-party alliance,” he added.
