Acting Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) DIG Ali Akbar Khan has applied for voluntary retirement and pre-retirement leave (PRL) under Section 44 of the Government Services Act, 2018.
The information was disclosed in a letter signed by CID Special Superintendent of Police AAM Humayun Kabir yesterday (4 June).
According to the letter, Ali Akbar Khan has applied to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs through the proper channel, seeking one year of PRL from July 2, 2026, ahead of his voluntary retirement.
Earlier on Monday, the Police Headquarters issued a notification making him the acting chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Ali Akbar Khan, a member of the 15th BCS (Police) cadre batch, joined the Bangladesh Police in 1995.
Throughout his long and distinguished career, he has served in various key units of the Bangladesh Police, including the Range Police, Police Headquarters, and the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, earning recognition for his professionalism, efficiency, and integrity.
To enhance his professional skills, Ali Akbar Khan has participated in several training courses, seminars and workshops at home and abroad.
