99.72% Gazipur factories paid April wages: Industrial Police

Eid bonuses have been paid in 2,753 factories, while salaries for the month of April have been disbursed in 2,749 factories, meaning that as of yesterday (26 May), 99.73% of Gazipur’s industrial establishments have cleared bonuses and 99.72% have cleared wages.

The information was confirmed by Superintendent of Police of Industrial Police-2 Gazipur, Md Amzad Hossain, stating that there are 2,764 listed factories in Gazipur district and city corporation areas, of which, some 1,409 are ready-made garment factories and 1,355 belong to other industrial segments.

SI Amzad added that as of yesterday, wages remained unpaid in 15 factories and bonuses in 11 factories. He said, “Efforts were underway to complete the disbursement of salaries and bonuses in the remaining factories before this noon (27 May).”

He also noted that due to operational requirements, authorities have decided to keep 94 critically important production units open either partially or fully operational even during the Eid holidays.
