At least 15 people were killed after a rod-laden truck overturned in the Saratail area on the eastern approach road to the Jamuna Bridge in Kalihati upazila of Tangail early today (25 May).
Several others injured in the incident were rescued and taken to Tangail General Hospital for treatment, reports Prothom Alo.
The identities of the deceased and injured could not be known immediately.
Jamuna Bridge East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Fuad Rohani said the truck carrying rods and passengers was heading towards northern Bangladesh from Dhaka when its driver lost control of the vehicle in the Saratail area and fell off the highway.
Fifteen people died on the spot, he added.
