Professor Dr Md Khairul Islam has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust).
The information was announced in a notification issued today (23 May) by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
The notification, signed by Assistant Secretary Md Shah Alom Siraj, stated that the appointment was made with the approval of the president and chancellor under section 11(1) of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Act, 1987.
Prof Dr Khairul is currently serving as chair of the Department of Business Administration at Sust. He also previously served as dean of the university’s School of Management and Business Administration.
According to the notification, his tenure as vice-chancellor will remain effective for four years from the date of joining or until the date of retirement, whichever comes earlier.
During his tenure, he will receive salary, allowances and other benefits equivalent to those of his substantive post in accordance with existing rules.
