The Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust has opened applications for admission assistance aimed at ensuring access to education for meritorious students from families struggling financially.
Under the “Admission Assistance Guidelines 2026,” students at the secondary, higher secondary and undergraduate levels are currently receiving financial support of Tk4,000, Tk6,000 and Tk8,000, respectively.
According to a notice published on the trust’s website recently, eligible students must apply online through the e-Admission Assistance Management System (http://www.eservice.pmeat.gov.bd/admission) within the stipulated deadline. Applications will remain open until 11:59pm on 14 June.
How to apply
Applicants must first download the prescribed recommendation form for approval from the head of their educational institution. After printing and filling out the form, students need to collect the recommendation from the institution’s head.
They must then take clear photographs or scanned copies of the required documents, including photographs, signatures, birth certificates, national identity cards and recommendation letters.
The application process involves five steps:
Register an account (if the applicant does not already have one)
Complete mobile phone verification
Log in to the portal
Submit the application
Check application status from the dashboard
Applicants must upload the following documents:
Passport-sized photograph of the student
Student’s signature
Copy of birth registration certificate
Guardian’s national identity card
Student’s NID card (if available)
Father’s and mother’s NID cards (if available)
Certificate issued by union parishad, municipality or city corporation ward councillor confirming financial hardship
Recommendation certificate from the educational institution or department head
Supporting documents for orphan status, disability, chronic illness, freedom fighter quota or other applicable categories
Recommendation from employer for children of 20th-grade government or semi-government employees
Photo of the first page of the bank cheque book or bank statement
To qualify, applicants must meet several conditions:
Students must be enrolled in classes 6-10, class XI or Alim first year, or first-year undergraduate or equivalent programmes; Parents’ or guardians’ annual income must be below Tk300,000; Applicants must belong to financially disadvantaged categories, including orphans, persons with disabilities, children of low-income labourers, children of insolvent freedom fighters, or children of 20th-grade government employees.
The trust may also independently provide support to exceptionally talented students from underprivileged families highlighted in media reports.
Assistance disbursement
The notice states that financial assistance is usually sent within 30 working days after the application deadline. Selected students will be notified through SMS.
As the entire process is online-based, applicants do not need to submit hard copies of their applications.
