Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali Alhmoudi today (18 May) paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam.
The meeting was held at the office of the Defence Adviser at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment, where a two-member UAE delegation also joined the discussions, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate press release.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on Bangladesh-UAE bilateral relations, particularly on expanding defence cooperation, experience-sharing and future collaboration opportunities.
The discussions also focused on enhancing defence and security cooperation through expanded training, capacity building, professional skill development and greater mutual engagement.
Both sides noted that there remains significant scope to further broaden defence cooperation between Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates on the basis of their existing friendly relations.
Regional and global security issues also came up for discussion, with both parties stressing the importance of continued constructive cooperation to promote peace, stability and security. They also emphasised further strengthening long-standing bilateral ties through enhanced defence and security collaboration, training, capacity building and professional exchanges.
