A mobile court has seized approximately 5,400 liters of diesel stored illegally in 27 drums from the Patenga Madrasa Gate area near Chattogram Airport.
The drive was conducted today (27 March) from 10:30am to 1:30pm.
Following the incident, Police arrested two individuals — Al Amin, 27, and Md Masud, 40.
According to police, the estimated market value of the seized diesel is around Tk5.4 lakh. Besides, three pumps used for loading and unloading the fuel were also confiscated.
Patenga Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mostafa Ahmed said, “The pumps were not authorised fuel sellers. A group of people were collecting diesel from various vehicles at low prices and illegally storing and distributing it.”
“Based on confidential information, the drive was carried out by an executive magistrate. The fuel was seized from different spots in the Madrasa Gate area,” he added.
He further said, “The recovered fuel has been taken to Patenga Police Station, and legal proceedings are underway against those involved.”
