Authorities seized 5,000 litres of illegally stored fuel during a mobile court drive at Purbabhag Notun Bazar in Brahmanbaria’s Nasirnagar upazila last night (1 April).
The operation was led by Nasirnagar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sahel Ahmed, based on a tip-off that a local grocery shop, Selim Store, had been hoarding a large quantity of fuel.
During the drive, officials recovered 5,000 litres of fuel stored in 26 drums from the shop premises. The shop owner, Md Faisal, was fined Tk10,000.
Sahel Ahmed said that dishonest traders are creating an artificial crisis by illegally stockpiling fuel, due to which, mobile courts are being operated at various places.
