Three people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered autorickshaw and an engine-run three-wheeler, locally called “votvoti,” in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi today.
The deceased were Shariful Islam, 45, the autorickshaw driver; Bidhan Das, 55, and Rokeya Begum, 90.
According to police, Shariful and Bidhan died on the spot, while Rokeya succumbed to her injuries after being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Two injured, Shahajan Ali, 35, and Seema Begum, 50, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Bagha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Suprabhat Mondal said, “A CNG-run autorickshaw, carrying five passengers, was travelling to Bagha from Lalpur. In a head-on collision with a ‘votvoti,’ coming from the opposite direction, three people died.”
“Police recovered the bodies and seized both vehicles involved in the accident,” he added.
